It began with a fateful job interview for a support team role at Invitae. Josh was interviewing and Amanda was on the panel determining his fate. Amanda was unsure about hiring this suspiciously cheerful candidate but thankfully the rest of the team talked sense into her (overruled) and hired Josh.

While at work, they bonded over their mutual passion for marine science and all things seafood (i.e. catching and eating). After their first couple of dates during Covid times at the beach digging for clams and snaring crabs they found out that their commonalities were much deeper than just hobbies.

Their similarities were so obvious that their lovingly meddling coworkers immediately noticed and kept trying to set them up.  Not so subtly, they planned a trip to try and spark the interest between them. Finally after many moons, Amanda and Josh finally got the hint and decided to make things official.

Over the next few years, the two became inseparable and Josh concocted a plan to propose to her (ie. “Trap her for life”) at the site where it all began; the beach where they had their first date.

Josh had the whole thing scoped out, he schemed with her bosses to ensure she had the day off of work and scouted the proposal sight to ensure perfect lighting and scenery.  “Unsuspiciously” he tried to wake Amanda up early on a Saturday morning for a non existent murder mystery dog hike party. Kona and Kai helped as Josh proposed by getting on both knees and asking “PLEASE?” as he was so nervous he forgot his entire speech.

Amanda and Josh look forward to spending the rest of their lives together with their dogs Kona, Kai and Kisu.
